Tore was a soldier and served in Bergenhusiske sharp shooter's battalion which went east in 1813 and took part in the strike with the Swedes in August 1814. In 1829 he got the deed from his father-in-law for 200 special daler. Tore was a sailor on the side and owned a sloop in cooperation with the sheriff, Jan Øystese and took part in fishing with it. In 1841 Tore traded with his neighbor on the home farm and moved on this occasion to the house on the farm. In 1844 he was on the community board.
